Carbon is precisely what diamonds are made of - compressed by the earth's immense pressures, heated at fantastic temperatures over millions of years.
The carbon left behind after the cremation process can be chemically treated to provide the material by which the laboratory can start the diamond making process. It is also possible to treat hair and nails in the same way. Discovered some years ago, the process uses immense heat and pressure over approx' 10 weeks.
The resultant high quality diamond crystal is then cut and polished in exactly the same way a natural diamond would be.
By a quirk of nature, the colour of our created diamonds simulates the rarest of natural gems found in the worlds mines, sometimes (but very rarely) pink and blue are produced, however, light amber is the most usual result. Having a hue does nothing to restrict the brilliant fire flashes and sparkle associated with diamonds.
Only about 25-30 grams of ash ('Cremains'), hair and/or nails is needed to produce a most fantastic and high quality diamond of approximately 1 carat weight.
